Rear A/C System

General Description:
Models 126.023, 126.033 and 126.037 with partition can be optionally provided since 03/82 with an air-conditioning system for the rear passenger compartment.

The refrigerant circuit for cooling the rear passenger compartment is connected in parallel (arrow) with existing air-conditioning system. Function and effect are similar to the air-conditioning system known up to now.

The refrigerant supply to the evaporators, which are not dependent on each other, is controlled by two R 12 magnetic valves at the left in engine compartment.

The rear passenger compartment air-conditioning system is switched on and off at magnetic valve (37).

The entire filling capacity amounts to 1700 g refrigerant R 12.

28 Air flow regulator
32 Temperature regulator

Fresh air is routed to rear passenger compartment through two channels under center console. When the air flow regulator (28) is switched on, the fresh air supply to rear passenger compartment is electronically and steplessly controlled by way of the electromagnetic switchover valve (27).

Engaged at "MAX" means full, uncontrolled blower speed.

The vacuum element (35) opens and closes the fresh air channels to rear passenger compartment depending on activation of switchover valve (27).

The air supply is routed via rear passenger compartment evaporator through partition to bar compartment supported by blower (30).

From bar compartment, the fresh air or the cooled air is distributed to the air outlets (left, center, right) by means of swivelling inserts (arrows).

Fresh air sucked in at the front ii mixed with circulating air from rear passenger compartment for better exploitation of cooling capacity.

The temperature is adjusted with selector dial (32).

The air is sucked from rear passenger compartment through air channels (arrow), located at the left and right of cardan tunnel below between the front seats.
