SUBJECT: DUE TO SPEED SENSOR ENGINE CUT OUT WHEN VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES INTERMITTENTLY MODELS 124 AND 201
As of May 1987 production, the Hall-effect speed sensor (mounted on speedometer) may have a cold solder joint on the output pin (4 mm). The speed sensor should be tested in case of either of the following complaints:
1. Engine cuts out when vehicle comes to a stop, but will restart immediately (M.Y. 1988 vehicles only).
2. Cruise control will not engage at all or an engaged cruise control will disengage intermittently.
To check for a cold solder joint, gently wiggle the output pin (4 mm). If any movement is detected, the sensor is defective and should be replaced. As of June 1988 production, an improved part is installed.(code stamp 6.88 June 1988 or later).
Note: The part number remains the same.
