Note
A cranking time of 4 seconds is normal.
Cause
Internal leakage of fuel system.
Remedy
Check fuel system for internal leakage.
If the leakage is traced to the internal check valve of the fuel pump (model year 1979 earlier), the check valve, part no. 000 090 0110, can be installed at the outlet port of the fuel pump.
The external check valve at the fuel pump outlet has been installed in production starting model year 1980 vehicles.
The following parts are required install the external check valve:
1 Check valve 000 090 01 10
3 Copper washer 007603 012111
1 Cap Nut 007605 012003 or
123 990 00 53
Note:
The hollow screw for the banjo fitting can be discarded.
