Slipping/Delayed 4-5 Upshift or No 4th Gear
Affected Vehicles:
CAUSE:
Adjustment screw of Control valve Y3/1y2 (arrow) becoming loose and changing pressure setting to fifth gear brake (BS).
NOTE: Vehicles that have already been inspected and/or corrected, have two red marks on the top right side of the transmission bell housing.
Possible Diagnostic Trouble Code Readout Electronic Transmission Control (ETC)
DTC 9 Control Valve Y3/1y2
REMEDY:
1. Remove transmission oil pan.
2. Inspect Control valve Y3/1y2, located in valve body lower cover (C, illustration):
- If valve Y3/1y2 is unpainted metal, reassemble transmission.
- If valve Y3/1y2 is painted black (vendor HYDRORING), replace control valve Y3/1y2 with unpainted metal version.
