Radiator: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT
1. Remove fan shroud (5).
2. On 210 Models with automatic transmission, remove viscous fan clutch.
3. On all models, drain coolant at radiator (4).
4. Take off coolant hoses (10), (11) and (12).
5. Unbolt oil pipes (7) and (8) at radiator (4) and plug oil pipes (7) and (8) with shop-made connection fitting.
4. Remove fan grille (20).
5. On 202 Models, remove radiator cover (22).
6. On all models, pull off flat shaped springs (15) upward.
7. Unbolt upper frame cross member (2).
8. On 210 Models, detach Bowden cable of hood lock at upper frame cross member (2).
9. On 202 Models, pull off shaped rubber strip (23)
10. On all models, remove intake air scoop (21).
11. Unbolt condenser at radiator (4).
12. Remove radiator (4) upwards.
13. Reverse procedure to install,noting the following:
14. - The securing studs of the radiator must be inserted into the rubber pads (19) of the bottom cross member.
- Tighten hose clips (reference value) to 2.5 Nm
- Tighten drain plug of radiator (reference value) to 1.5 Nm
- Tighten oil lines (7) and (8) to 20 Nm then, check oil level and adjust to correct level.
- Fill cooling system.
- Check cooling system for leaks
