SUBJECT:
MODEL 210 COMBINATION SWITCH HARNESS CONNECTOR

Service Campaign 95-1233 is initiated because MBAG has asked that the vehicles listed in the Effective Serial Number Range below, be checked to ensure that the combination switch harness is properly connected (push bar engaged) and routed.

Effective Serial Number

The Effective Serial Number Range List, contains a specific list of the 12 vehicles affected by this campaign. These vehicles have been retailed and must be checked.

Please contact the customer by telephone immediately for inspection of the combination switch harness and combination switch connector.

Please refer to inspection/repair procedure.

Procedure:

1. Confirm operation (i.e.: low-high beam, left-right turn signals, windshield wipe/wash) of combination switch stalk (S4, Figure 1).

!Important!
Report any non-function of the combination switch stalk to your S.O.M..

2. Remove cover below instrument panel (SMS, Job No. AR68.10-1500F).

3. Locate combination switch harness (black insulated) and combination switch connector (S4x1) (held in fixture) (arrow, Figure 1).

4. Review SMS, Job No. AR54.25-2800EA prior to start of step 4. Inspect combination switch connector (S4x1) for proper connection (secured in fixture with push bar engaged).

!Important!
Report any disconnected switch connectors to your S.O.M..

Additionally, check for any possible damage to connector and harness. Replace any damaged connector or harness.

5. If the combination switch connection is properly connected and not damaged, remove the tape holding the harness.

6. Using the steering wheel column extension adjustment button, extend the steering column to its maximum position. Then route the harness by providing enough slack in the harness as to ensure combination switch connector can not disconnect or that harness can not be entangled otherwise, with the steering column at full extension. Secure harness by retaping as needed

Note:
It may be necessary, in order to provide enough free play in the harness, to uncoil one loop of the harness.

7. Verify inspection/repair by using steering column in/out switch (S91s12) to extend steering column to its maximum. Inspect both combination switch connector and harness routing again.

8. Reinstall cover under instrument panel.

In Case of Warranty

Operation:
Verify operation of combination switch. Inspect combination switch connector (54x1) connection, and extend/reroute combination switch harness and reconnect combination switch connector if needed. Secure connector and harness.
