Parktronic - Unusual System Operation

Date: February 1999

Order No: P-SI-MBNA-54.65/47

Supersedes:

Group: 54

SUBJECT:
MODEL 140
IMPLAUSIBLE OPERATION OF PARKTRONIC SYSTEM

On vehicles equipped with the Parktronic system, customers may complain of unusual operation of the system while the vehicle is stopped, e.g. no obstacle is present in the monitoring area, 7 or 8 bars are visible in the graphic display and the acoustic warning sounds. This is caused by undesired vibration of the sensors in the bumpers, a harmonic "tuning fork" effect. To help resolve this condition, changes in production were introduced and a repair kit has been released.

Model 140 Sedan

Front bumper, calender week 18/96, from chassis end no. 324327
Rear bumper, calender week 31/96, from chassis end no. 336001

Instructions
