Notes on Damage to Piston or Cylinder Bore

Remove coatings on the piston with a soft brass wire brush or with a rough cleaning rag. Do not work on the piston with polishing or abrasive cloth as this will damage the chrome-plated surface. If the chrome layer is damaged, replace the piston.
Only process the aluminum version with anodized surfaces (piston and housing bore) with a soft cloth.

If the piston is stuck or there are scores or rusted cylinder bores, replace the complete fixed caliper or the cylinder housing in the case of the floating caliper. Remove slight narrow rust points in the cylinder bore with polishing cloth and more severe rust points in front of the groove for the piston seal with fine abrasive paper (380 to 500 grain).

In case of repair, the housing dia. in the outer section of the bore may be exceeded by up to 0.1 mm by treatment with a polishing cloth.
