AH07.00-P-3003-01A Notes regarding test conditions when testing engine output and exhaust gas

Traffic regulations/test conditions
^ Secure front wheels, (retainer locks with 100 mm distance in front of front wheels).
^ Check rear wheel tire pressure, adjust to specified pressure.
^ Check trunk capacity, remove any heat-sensitive and heavy objects.
^ Cool off vehicle with blower (Minimum output 15,000 m3/h). Direct air flow at radiator and underside of vehicle (oil pan, exhaust, 3-way catalytic converter, tires). Maintain a distance of approx. 1 m between blower and vehicle.
^ The driven period is to be limited solely to the time required to read off the instruments (approx. 5 seconds for the output dynamometer; approx. 20 seconds for the exhaust test).
^ On vehicles fitted with a 3-way catalytic converter the work procedure is to be interrupted immediately when any signs of combustion interference appear, because otherwise the 3-way catalytic converter may be damaged.

Unless an explicit performance complaint has been issued, it is enough to perform the test at max. 100 km/h or 120 km/h.

Comply with test specifications and the following sequence:
^ Warm up
^ Performance test Continue for exhaust emission test only
^ Exhaust test at wide-open throttle, upper part throttle, lower part throttle
^ Idle speed
^ Exhaust test at idling

The full-throttle tests (power output, exhaust) are to be performed immediately after warming the engine up, as long as the tire pressure is still low, as the temperature rises most markedly during these measurements.

Two repetitive measurements are permitted after adjustment operations. A break of 45 minutes must be made before any further measurements are made to allow the overall major assembly to cool down.
