Cloth Holding Brace Closed & Locked
Removal, Installation & Adjustment of Cloth Holding Brace Closed & Locked
Preliminary jobs:
Catches, right and left rear removed. Service and Repair
NOTE: When the catches are actuated in the removed state lay a rag over the connections for the hydraulic lines.
A released catch can be locked by pressing the rotating lock down with a screwdriver (overcoming coupe roof catch), until it can be locked with the top wrench (vehicle tool kit).
Removal
Catch clamp in vise together with both mounting tabs
Screws (1) screw out of cover (2)
Screws (3) screw out
Line unclip on holder (4)
Plug connector (A22x or A23x) unclip from holder
Installation
Plug connector (A22x or A23x) clip into holder
Line clip into holder (4)
Limit switch (A22s1/s2 or A23s1/s2) screw on with screws (3)
Adjustment
A. With catches with marked switching ranges (W, X, Y, Z)
With catch released press catch in direction "lock" with thumb until resistance is felt. The rotating lock (5) should form a line with the mark W (coupe roof catch). If not adjust switching range (Z) by this amount.
Connect multimeter to plug connector (A22x or A23x, pins 1 and 2). Set multimeter to continuity test (acousting signal). Press rotating lock (5) in direction "lock" with thumb. Limit switch (A22s1 or A23s1) should actuate when the upper edge of the rotating lock (5) is in switching range (Z). If necessary adjust limit switch (A22s1 or A23s1) by moving in oblong holes. Apply screw securing agent to screws (3) for limit switch (A22s1 or A23s1).
Lock catch. Press rotating lock (5) in direction "release" with thumb until resistance is felt. The rotating lock (5) should form a line with mark X (main catch). If not adjust switching range (Y) by this amount.
Release catch. Attach multimeter to plug connector (A22x or A23x, pins 3 and 4). Set multimeter to continuity check (acoustic signal). Press catch in direction "lock" with top wrench (vehicle tool kit). Simultaneously press rotating lock (5) upward with thumb to eliminate play. Limit switch (A22s2 or A23s2) should actuate when the upper edge of the rotating lock (5) is in the switching range (Y). If necessary adjust limit switch (A22s2 or A23s2) by sliding in oblong holes. Apply screw-securing agent to screws (3) for limit switch (A22s2 or A23s2).
B On catches without marked switching ranges (W, X, Y, Z)
Cut paper strips according to drawing and mark as indicated.
Glue paper strips (W, Z) to catch so that upper edge of rotating lock (5) forms a line with the coupe roof catch (W) when the rotating lock is pressed downward with thumb (against stop). Glue paper strips (X, Y) to catch so that upper edge of rotating lock (5) forms a line with the main catch (X) in the locked state (press down with thumb to eliminate play).
W: Coupe roof lock
X: Main catch
Y: Switching range (2.5-3.5 mm in front of main catch)
Z: Switching range (2.5-3.5 mm in front of coupe roof lock)
