1. Switch on quiescent current retention unit (7).
2. Connect quiescent current retention unit (7) as follows:
^ Connect positive terminal (8) of quiescent current retention unit (7) to the positive lead of the battery.
^ Connect negative terminal (9) of the quiescent current retention unit (7) to ground (battery) (W10).







3. Disconnect negative terminal (1) from battery.
4. Connect the multimeter as follows; use the "electrical connection kit" for this purpose:
^ Connect positive test cable (+) to negative battery cable (1).
^ Connect negative test cable (-) to negative battery terminal (3).







5. Switch on multimeter (2) (do not select measuring range in amp(s) too small. When the central locking system operates, a current of about 20 Aflows).
6. Switch off and disconnect quiescent current retention unit.
7. Take multimeter (2) out of the luggage compartment.
The measurement cables (6) must not loosen in the process.
8. Close trunk lid.
