Model 203.2
Double Roller Cover in Luggage Compartment Does Not Rest in Rear Position

In Model 203.2 vehicles, when releasing the luggage compartment cover the side latch parts may be damaged by improper handling and the pivot locks may break.

Replacement of the entire double roller cover assembly on the basis of this complaint will not be accepted as warranty. Replace only the latch parts. In the event of malfunctions of the side latch parts, it is always necessary to replace both sides.

Follow the procedure outlined below to replace pivot locks (both) on luggage compartment roller cover.

1. Check whether both pivot locks (11, Figure 1) are broken by actuating the release handle (2, Figure 1). If required, press release handle (2, Figure 1) downward to ensure both pivot locks (11, Figure 1) are broken.

2. Remove double roller cover and place on suitable surface.

3. Pull out cover approx. 300 mm.

4. Secure cover against rolling up unintentionally with assembly wedge. Do not damage or mark underside of cover.

5. Place roll of adhesive tape (11, Figure 1) below release handle (2, Figure 1).

6. Pivot release handle (2, Figure 1) 180°. The clamping pin (9, Figure 1) should be visible on both sides.

7. From above, drive clamping pin (9, Figure 1) out of rod (5, Figure 1) with 3 mm diameter punch (3, Figure 1). Press cover to one side in area of clamping pin or it may be damaged.

8. Pull out latch parts (4, Figure 1) on left and right sides.

9. Pull rod (5, Figure 1) out of roller cover to one side until the holes (6, Figure 1) for the latch lugs are visible. Ensure that the release handle (2, Figure 1) can slide on the rod (5, Figure 1) otherwise the cover will be damaged. Do not pull rod out too far because there are three cardboard tubes located on each side of the rod.

10. Press the two latch lugs (7, Figure 1) of spring carrier (8, Figure 1) in the holes (6, Figure 1) together and pull spring carrier (8, Figure 1) out of rod (5, Figure 1) to side.

11. Remove any burr present in holes (6, Figure 1). Any burrs from drilling will affect the locking action of the new parts.

12. Repeat steps 9 through 11 for opposite side.

13. Center rod (5, Enlargement Figure 1) and move release handle (2, Enlargement Figure 1) to original position.

14. Press locking pin (9, Enlargement Figure 1) into rod (5, Enlargement Figure 1) from bottom until it is flush with the release handle (2, Enlargement Figure 1).

15. Insert new latch parts (10, Figure 1) into the recesses on rod (5, Figure 1) and press in to stop. During this procedure, hold release handle (2, Figure 1) tightly and twist latch part slightly until latch lugs are located in holes (6, Figure 1).

16. Ensure that latch parts are securely located by tapping lightly on the side of the latch parts (10, Figure 1) with a rubber hammer.

17. Check function of pivot locks (11, Figure 1). Press release handle (2, Figure 1) down; pivot locks (11, Figure 1) should move.

18. Install double roller cover and check again for proper function.

Advise customer of proper actuation. Only press release handle (2, Figure 1) down until the pivot locks (11, Figure 1) then release the catch. Do not press down too far.
