Audio Volume at Maximum Level When Switched ON

If you receive customer reports in the above models having one or all of the conditions listed below, the Sound Amplifier Software must be updated by following the below procedure.

^ The audio volume is too loud when the Head Unit is switched ON

^ Interference noise detected after engine start

^ The complaint may occur in all audio sources, e.g. AM/FM, CD/CD Changer

^ When this occurs, it is no longer possible to reduce or adjust the volume

^ The system behaves normally after the ignition is cycled and MOST/CAN asleep.

Note:
For MY 05 Model 203 only, the applicable VIN Ranges are: Start of Production to 1A-694422

Use DAS to check the software level of the sound amplifier, if the version is 24/04, contact the TAC for further assistance. Otherwise, proceed to update the Sound Amplifier Software Via SD Flash Release CD 08/2004 using the steps below:

^ Insert the latest SD flash Release CD (Release 000 448 0000 0003) into CD drive of Star Diagnosis. The CD must stay in the drive during the flash process.

^ Select the correct vehicle model

^ Select Control units

^ Select Information and communication

^ Select Audio, video, navigation and telematics

^ Select Sound- Sound System Select Initial startup

^ Select Control module programming

^ Select SDflash release CD

^ Follow the steps as guided by DAS.

^ Upon process completion, turn the Ignition OFF and insure MOST and CAN buses go to sleep. Start the vehicle and use DAS to verify the software status of the Sound Amplifier is 24/04
