AR54.10-P-1030-05AB Determining Fused Components with Increased Quiescent Current

Determining Fused Components with Increased Quiescent Current

Commercially Available Tools:

1 Determine possible quiescent current loads connected to fuse in question. See assignment and wire connections for fuse blocks, insert sheet or wiring diagrams.

2 Disconnect coupling at the likely quiescent current consumer.
3 Read off quiescent current on second multimeter.

NOTE: If the measurement is performed at the fuse carrier of the radio or if the connector of the radio is disconnected, the quiescent current consumption may rise by about 0.240 A (240 mA). The increased quiescent current consumption is eliminated by switching the radio on and off.

Quiescent current > 0.02 A (20 mA):
Quiescent current fault still present after disconnecting connector.
Component is okay, reconnect connector to component checked.

4 Perform test with all the components of the faulty fuse, as described.

Quiescent current <= 0.02 A (20 mA):
Quiescent current fault eliminated after disconnecting connector from affected component. Component defective, replace:

To check measure total quiescent current again.
