Component Identification:

Function requirements:
^ The trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) has detected the coupled trailer.
^ The vehicle is locked and the antitheft alarm system (ATA) primed.
^ The trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) has detected the activated anti-theft alarm system (ATA).

Function sequence
For monitoring purposes, the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) cyclically and briefly energizes the trailer stop lamps via the 13-pin trailer hitch socket (X58).
The electronic circuits of the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) detects an interruption of the stop lamp circuit and sends an "Alarm" signal to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via the class B (interior) Controller Area Network Bus (CAN-B).

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) evaluates the signal and triggers the acoustic and optical alarm:
^ The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) directly actuates the alarm signal horn with auxiliary battery (H3/1) and the rear lighting systems as an acoustic and optical alarm signal.
^ The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), actuated by the message from the CAN-B, triggers the optical alarm signal of the front lighting systems.
