GF82.70-P-2010QM Voice Control System Activation, Function
- with CODE (813) Voice control system (VCS)

Component Identification:

The voice control system (VCS) is activated by pulling the VCS [SBS] switch (S93/2) towards the driver.
The actuator is read in by the steering column module (N80) and the corresponding message is put on the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) to one of the following control units of the respective audio system:
^ Radio (A2)
^ Radio and navigation unit (A2/56), with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
^ COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), with code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation) or with code (530) COMAND APS USA (with navigation)

This then sends the activation message via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the voice control system control unit (A35/11) which activates the integral voice recognition of the VCS [voice control system]. This is signaled to the user by means of an acoustic signal (audible beep). At the same time the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) is activated and the radio component of the audio system is muted in order to guarantee as undistorted user input as possible.

The user can select and operate the respective components of the audio, communications and navigation system using the corresponding voice commands.
The spoken voice commands are received by the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1) and passed on to the voice control system control unit (A35/11) in a conventional manner. This system processes the voice input of the user while taking the ambient noise into account (e.g., wind noise, tire rolling noise). If an input does not take place immediately, the hands-free system microphone group (A67/b1) is switched more sensitive. If there is still no input, the VCS is deactivated after t = 15 seconds.
