GF82.95-P-2007QU Switching E-Call On/Off, Function

GF82.95-P-2007QU Switching E-call On/Off, Function
- with CODE (349) E-Call emergency call system

ON/off characteristics
The Emergency-Call system is switched on, with the transmitter key (A8/1) in the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) turned to position "circuit 15R ON". The switch-on process is signaled by the indicator lamp in the SOS pushbutton (S93/3) switching on. The system is ready for operation.

After switching on, the E-call control unit (A35/8) activates the transmitter and receiver unit and waits for the readiness confirmation from the restraint systems control unit (N2/7).

If the system is not authorized, an error message appears in the instrument cluster (A1) and the system is not operational.

Switch off characteristics
^ With "circuit 15R OFF" Emergency-Call is switched off with a delay of 10 minutes, if an emergency call is not active and the telephone is not adjusted to a longer run-on time.
^ For control of the telephone system, Emergency-Call likewise remains active during the telephone run-on time, but emergency call triggering is not possible.
^ Emergency-Call is only switched off during an emergency call when the emergency call has finished.
^ If an authorization is already active when switching on "circuit 15R", this is terminated and the Emergency-Call then switched off.

When the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is switched on and with "circuit 15R OFF" phone calls can be made within the adjusted run-on time.

State display, function
The state display in the SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) serves as a function check of the Emergency-Call system.
Each time the Emergency-Call system is switched on the state display lights up for approx. 5 seconds and signals the Emergency-Call system is ready. Then the status indicator goes out.

If an Emergency-Call emergency call is triggered, the state display starts to flash (0.5 s ON, 0.5 s OFF etc.). If it was not possible to transfer an Emergency-Call emergency call, the state display lights up. If data is transmitted, the status indicator returns to the same status as before the emergency call actuation
When the E-Call system is in diagnostic mode, the state display likewise starts to flash (1 s ON, 1 s OFF etc.)
A system error exists when the state display is not erased 5 seconds after switching on or if it lights up later on

Possible causes for uninterrupted lighting up of the state display
External faults:
^ Tilting cone sensor (B66) defective
^ Power supply too low
^ No or wrong SIM card installed
^ Communication with restraint system control unit (N2/7) interrupted
^ Communication with ESP and BAS control unit (N47-5) faulty
^ Fault in SOS pushbutton (S93/3)
^ Faults during GPS reception
^ Reception via telephone antenna (A2/22) faulty
^ Reception via emergency call system left backup antenna (A2/54) or emergency call system right backup antenna (A2/55) faulty

Internal faults:
^ GPS reception faulty
^ Vehicle is not or is just about to be authorized
^ Memory defect in E-CALL control unit (A35/8)
^ The PIN (Personal Identification Number) has not been stored in the E-call control unit (A35/8) by the operator (e.g. after changing the PIN number)
^ The telephone transmitter and receiver unit integral in the E-call control unit (A35/8) is defective

Using STAR DIAGNOSIS the E-call control unit (A35/8) can be coded so that the state display does not light up despite a lack of authorization (all other system faults are nevertheless displayed). The dealer has this deactivation of the state display confirmed in writing by the customer, by means of a preprinted form.
