The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) has the following tasks:
^ Search AM and FM frequency bands for stations that can be received
^ Diversity function for FM frequency band with 2 separate tuners
^ Interface between class B (interior) controller area network bus (CAN-B) and Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
^ MOST master
^ Central diagnostic interface for all control units (e.g.COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3)) on MOST
^ Speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
^ Central control of the audio processing stages and audio amplification stages
^ Scan sound amplifier microphone (B25/6)

The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) also actuates the following speakers:
^ Left door front speaker (H4/1)
^ Right door front speaker (H4/2)
^ Left door rear speaker (H4/5)
^ Right door rear speaker (H4/6)
^ Bass module speaker (H4/17)
^ Center cockpit speaker (centerfill) (H4/27)
^ Subwoofer (H4/29)
