GF88.79-P-2002QA Fold Left/right Outside Mirror, Function
- with CODE (500b) Folding left and right outside mirrors
- as of 1.6.04

Component Identification:

Manually folding-in/out, function

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15R On or circuit 15 ON
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage
^ No mirror lens adjustment active
^ Speed < 100 km/h for folding in mirror housing

Function
The left and right outside mirror housings can be folded in and out electrically. The housings of both outside mirrors can be moved to the garage position (mirror housing folded in) or driving position (mirror housing folded out) via the outside mirror fold-in switch (S1s2) and outside mirror fold-out switch (S1s3) located in the light switch module (S1). For this purpose, it is only necessary to momentarily press the outside mirror fold-in switch (S1s2) or outside mirror fold-out switch (S1s3) and the mirror housings are automatically adjusted to the desired position.

The adjustment request of the outside mirror fold-in switch (S1s2) or the outside mirror fold-out switch (S1s3) is read in by the front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1).The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) takes over the master function during adjustment and relays the signals to the left door control module (N69/1) and right door control module (N69/2) via CAN-B bus (CAN-B)
The left door control module (N69/1) then actuates the mirror fold-in motor (M21/1m3) in the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) and the right door control module (N69/2) actuates the mirror fold-in motor (M21/2m3) in the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).
If the function prerequisite c. 15 R ON is no longer present after starting a fold-in or fold-out operation, the operation is continued until the final position is reached.

The front SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/1) as well as the left door control module (N69/1) and right door control module (N69/2) receive the speed signal by the instrument cluster (A1) via the CAN-B bus (CAN-B)The mirror housings can only be folded in up to a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

Abort conditions
Electrical movement to the position is interrupted if:
^ a manual outside mirror adjustment is activated
^ a memory request is present from the driver
^ a function prerequisite is no longer present (except circuit status)
Afterwards the outside mirror fold-in/out function is continued

Automatically folding in/out, function

Function requirements
When folding in
^ Circuit 15R OFF
^ Function activated in instrument cluster (A1)
^ Mirror housing last actuated in fold-out direction
^ Vehicle locked with transmitter key
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage

When folding out
^ Terminal 15R ON or
^ Driver and passenger door open
^ Mirror housing previously folded in automatically
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage

Function
When the vehicle is unlocked via the central locking (CL) from outside with the transmitter key, both mirror housings are folded in automatically (garage position). The next time the vehicle is unlocked with the central locking and the driver or passenger door are opened, the mirror housings are returned to the previous position.
If the mirror housing is still folded in with c. 15R ON with a previous automatic folding-in procedure the mirrors are folded out immediately.

If the mirror housings were manually adjusted to the garage position, the mirror housings are not adjusted via the automatic adjustment
The automatic fold-in/out function can interrupted any time by adjusting the mirror in the exterior light switch module (S1) Master of this function is the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), which transmits the corresponding CAN-B bus (CAN-B) signal to the left front door control unit (N69/1) for actuating the left electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/1) and right front door control unit (N69/2) for actuating the right electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror (M21/2).

Abort conditions
Electrical movement to the position is interrupted if:
^ the outside mirror adjustment is activated manually
^ the fold-in/out feature is activated manually
^ a memory request is present from the driver
^ a function prerequisite is eliminated
After interruption, the outside mirror fold-in/out function is continued
