AR77.31-P-1003QA Remove/Install Soft Top Insulation












Remove

DANGER!
- Injury hazard from roll bar extending
- Before working in the area of the roll bar pull rear head restraints out by hand.
- Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.
- Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts.


1 Remove soft top cover
2 Remove pinch roll (1) from soft top tip (2) together with insulation (3)
3 Drill out rivet (4) from inside of soft top and pull elastic band (5) outward
4 Drill out rivet (6) from linkage from outside and remove clamping belt (7).
5 Unscrew bolt (8) from rear bow (12) and remove tensioning rubber cable (9).
- Torx bit set, See Special Tools below

6 Drill rivets (10) out of tensioning strap (11) on bows (12).
7 Remove tensioning strap (11) from bow (12) and lay down on soft top linkage.
8 Pull insulation (3) to side out of bows (12)

NOTE: Pull insulation (3) out with rear window frame (13).

9 Pull insulation (3) out of rear window frame (13).

Install
10 Move insulation (3) into rear window frame (13)
11 Move insulation (3) uniformly into bow (12)

NOTE: Before installing completely cut off front corners of insulation at an angle.

12 Align insulation (3) by means of markings

NOTE: Line marked in white should coincide with the notch on the rear window frame (13) and soft top tip (2).

13 Press pinch roll (1) with insulation (3) into soft top tip (2)
14a Position clamping strap (11) on bow and rivet
- Hand Riveter, See Commercially Available Tools below

15 Tighten tensioning rubber cable (9) to rear bow (12) with bolt (8).
16 Rivet tensioning belt (7) to soft top linkage.
17 Route elastic band (5) between soft top linkage into passenger compartment and fasten with rivet.
18 Install soft top canvas
