Remove/Install Engine Mounts

DANGER:
- Risk of death, Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform.
- Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect ground cable of battery

NOTE: Only if the right-hand engine mount is removed.

CAUTION: Model 209, 211: Do not connect quiescent current retention unit, otherwise it could lead to damage in the control modules.



2.1 Remove air cleaner housing (1).

NOTE:
- Detach air cleaner housing (1) vertically upward from the cylinder head covers.
- Installation: Moisten slightly with sliding compound the retaining rubbers on the cylinder head covers and the sealing ring of the hot film mass air flow sensor in the air cleaner housing.

2.2 Unclip cover at face end of engine
- Model 211

3 Remove engine compartment paneling
4 Unscrew screw (2)
5 Remove front exhaust system from the right and the left exhaust manifold

NOTE: Installation: Replace bolts and check rivet nuts in the exhaust manifold, replace if required.

6 Unscrew bolts (4a)
7 Dismount bracket (4) of exhaust system from transmission
8 Remove cross strut (12)
- Model 211

9 Bolt bracket onto supercharger
- Engine 112.961, 113.990

10 Fit on engine supporting frame
11 Raise engine

CAUTION: When raising engine, ensure that the rear of the engine does not touch the body and that the coolant lines, hydraulic lines and compressor lines are not over-tensioned.

12 Unscrew bolts (5).
13 Dismount engine mount (3) from left engine support (9) and right engine support (10)
14 Remove engine mount (3) with left shield (6) and right shield (7)

NOTE:
- Installation: The anti-twist locks (8) at the engine mounts (3) must latch in the retaining grooves in the engine supports. The anti-twist locks (11) of the right and left engine support must be seated in the recess clearances of the shields
- Observe environmental protection regulations for disposal of engine mounts, give engine mount (3) to mixed scrap metal.

15 Install in the reverse order
16 Perform basic programming

NOTE: Only if the ground lead of the battery has been disconnected.

17 Read out DTC memory

NOTE: Only if the ground lead of the battery has been disconnected.
