GF82.10-P-2102-02Q Headlamp Range Adjustment Control Unit, Task
- with CODE (615) Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15R ON
^ Low beam ON (regardless of origin of request, e.g. manual switch actuation or daytime running lamps)

The system of the automatic headlamp range adjustment comprises the headlamp range adjustment and the dynamic curve regulation, which are combined in the headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71).

Headlamp range adjustment
The automatic headlamp range adjustment requires the following components and data:
^ The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71)
^ The headlamp range adjustment rear axle sensor (A51)
^ The headlamp range adjustment front axle sensor (A52)
^ The left front lamp unit (E1) with the xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) and the left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1)
^ The right front lamp unit (E2) with the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) and the right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1)
^ The wheel speed signals via the Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C)
^ The engine torques via CAN-C
^ The braking torque via CAN-C
^ The pedal value data (accelerator pedal) via CAN-C

The system automatically keeps the incline angle of the bundled light from the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right front lamp unit (E2) within the statutory limits.

The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) reads in the headlamp range adjustment rear axle sensor (A51) and the headlamp range adjustment front axle sensor (A52) via a discrete line. In the process, all the changes in vehicle level are recorded and corrected, regardless of whether they are due to the load or the pitch motion during acceleration or deceleration. Via a data line, the headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) transmits the request to make the correction to the xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) and the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1). These actuate the corresponding motors, left headlamp range adjustment motor (E1m1) and right headlamp range adjustment motor (E2m1).

Dynamic curve illumination
The dynamic curve illumination requires the following components and data:
^ The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71)
^ The left front lamp unit (E1) with the xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) and the left dynamic curve illumination motor (E1m2)
^ The right front lamp unit (E2) with the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1) and the right dynamic curve illumination motor (E2m2)
^ The yaw rate via CAN-C
^ The steering angle via CAN-C
^ The vehicle speed signal via CAN-C

The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) calculates, as a function of all input variables, the amount of adjustment for adjusting the left dynamic curve illumination motor (E1m2) and the right dynamic curve illumination motor (E2m2). Both motors are actuated according to their assignment by the xenon headlamp control unit (E1n1) or by the xenon headlamp control unit (E2n1).

The headlamp range adjustment control unit (N71) can be diagnosed using STAR DIAGNOSIS via CAN-C.
