GF82.10-P-3003Q Automatic Driving Light Actuation, Function

Component Identification:

Function requirements:
^ The rain/light sensor (B38/2) reports sufficient daylight, it is not raining or snowing, the windshield wiper is switched off.
^ The exterior lamp switch (S1s1) in the light switch module (S1) is in the "AUTO" position.

Function
The rain/light sensor (B38/2) reports the individual conditions (daylight, rain or snowfall) via the overhead control panel control unit (N70).

The monitoring of the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and wiper switch makes it possible for the overhead control panel control unit (N70) to trigger automatic driving light actuation with rain or snow.

The rain/light sensor (B38/2) monitors the intensity of the daylight and the light conditions in the direction of travel.

The vehicle is approaching a tunnel
The rain/light sensor (B38/2) reports the dark tunnel entrance to the overhead control panel control unit (N70) and transmits the "darkness, driving lamps ON" message to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the class B (interior) Controller Area Network Bus (CAN-B) The message is relayed to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via the CAN-B.
The front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the standing lamp and the low beam or high beam in the left front lamp unit (E1) and the standing lamp and the low beam or high beam in the right front lamp unit (E2).

The actuation of the low beam or high beam depends on the position of the combination switch (S4). If the combination switch (S4) is set to the high beam position , the high beam in the left front lamp unit (E1) and the right front lamp units (E2) are actuated.

The rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) actuates the taillamps in the left taillamp (E3) and the right taillamp (E4), the left license plate lamp (E19/1) and the right license plate lamp (E19/2).

The daytime driving lights are switched on automatically; the vehicle enters the tunnel with its lights on.
The rain/light sensor (B38/2) continues to remain active in the tunnel and, as soon as it detects sufficient daylight in the tunnel exit, it initiates the driving lights being switched off automatically.

In vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, the CAN message is also sent to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1), which actuates the 13-pin trailer hitch socket (X58).
