Task
- Temporary storage of fuel vapors (for subsequent regeneration)
- Ventilation and purging of the fuel tank

Design
The activated charcoal canister consists of a plastic housing filled with activated charcoal granulates.
It is subdivided in different chambers by means of partitions, in order to achieve an optimal flow of the activated charcoal granulates.

Function
Fuel vapors to be released from the fuel tanks are combined with the activated charcoal granules.
Fuel vapors (United States of America) that have collected at the time of refueling are also combined with the activated charcoal granules.
When regeneration is activated, the fuel vapors are drawn in by the engine and combusted.
The activated charcoal granulates are completely regenerated in the ideal case.

Ventilation of the fuel tank (in the event of a vacuum) and purging of the fuel tank (in the event of an overpressure) is carried out via the activated charcoal canister.
