GF54.65-P-4004R Fault Analysis, Function
- with CODE (220) Parktronic system (PTS)

The Parktronic system distinguishes between a malfunction and a fault.

Operational problem
If a fault occurs during operation, the red segments and the frames of all active warning indicators light up. There is no warning tone. An operational problem may occur due to a faulty component (e.g. sensor, warning indicator or PTS control module), a broken line, or due to a short-term external interruption (e.g. a pneumatic hammer on a construction site, a steam-jet cleaner or an induction loop at a traffic light).
If a malfunction exists for less than 2 minutes, it is not recognized as a fault and is not stored in the fault memory.

Fault
If a malfunction exists for longer than 2 minutes (20 s with a diagnostic unit connected), then it is identified as a fault and is stored in the fault memory of the control module.

The fault is indicated by the lighting of the red segments in all active warning indicators in conjunction with a warning tone of 3s duration.
The warning indicators are switched off after indicating the fault for 20 s.

Data transfer errors to the warning indicators: The warning indicators and corresponding leads cannot be tested by the control module because data transfer occurs only in the direction of the warning indicators (no entry in fault memory). If a warning indicator receives no valid signals within 1/2 s of the ignition being switched on, the two red segments of the relevant warning indicator light up, a warning tone (lasting approx. 3 s) is activated and after 20 s the warning indicator is switched off. If faults occur during operation, the last warning issued is displayed until valid signals are received.
