B. Replacement of Suction Hose
1. Deactivate SBC system using Star Diagnosis (DAS).2. Remove intake duct (arrow, Figure 3) on right side of engine.
Note:
For models with 12 cylinder engines, also remove right air cleaner - refer to WIS:
AR09.10-P-1150LA.
3. Replace suction hose (A, Figure 4):
^ Open the suction hose mounting clip (arrow) and remove suction hose (A) from bracket (arrow).
^ Remove mounting clip (arrow) from threaded stud and discard.
^ Remove ("omega" type) hose clips (arrows, Figure 5) from SBC hydraulic unit bracket.
^ Remove hose clamps (A, Figure 6) from SBC suction hose (arrows)
^ Remove suction hose (arrow) from top fitting on SBC hydraulic unit (B) and from suction line (C) using a plastic wedge (Special tool: W110 589 03 59 00).
Note:
^ Do not use any type of sharp-edged tool (e.g., screwdriver) to remove suction hose (arrows, Figure 6) from suction line (C) or SBC hydraulic unit (B), as this may cause damage to the SBC brake system.
^ When removing suction hose (arrows), do not bend suction line (C, Figure 6).
^ To prevent brake fluid from running out and to prevent contamination in the brake system, the suction hose (arrows, Figure 6) and line (C) are to be plugged using suitable plugs from the stop plug kit (Special Tool: W129 589 00 91 00).
^ Save suction hose (arrows) after removal; it will need to be returned to QEC.
4. Installation of new suction hose (A, Figure 7):
^ Verify that the dimension X (Figure 7) on the new SBC suction hose (A) = 20 cm. Adjust (if necessary) by repositioning the mounting clip (B) on the SBC suction hose (A).
^ Place new hose clamp onto unmarked side of suction hose (C).
^ Connect the unmarked end of the suction hose (C, Figure 7) onto the suction line (A, Figure 8) located underneath the SBC hydraulic unit and secure hose with a new hose clamp (arrow, Figure 8).
Note:
Ensure that the new suction hose is not kinked and is not under tension.
^ Connect end of the new SBC suction hose marked "HU" (Figure 9) onto the SBC hydraulic unit fitting (B, Figure 10) and secure with a new hose clamp (arrow).
^ Secure new SBC suction hose (A, Figure 11) to SBC hydraulic unit using new ("omega" type) mounting clips (arrows).
^ Install the new SBC suction hose mounting clip (arrow, Figure 12) onto the mounting stud.
Note:
To gain better access to mounting bracket, remove the plastic cover over the right head lamp then tap the bracket into place using an extension and plastic mallet.
^ Clean brake fluid from vehicle surfaces using water.
5. Check the connections of the SBC suction hose for leaks by pressurizing with brake bleeder at a pressure of 2.0 - 2.5 bar for at least 5 minutes, then check the entire suction line for visible leaks, especially at all of the connections.
6. Bleed the SBC brake system using SDS (DAS). Follow the instructions exactly as described in DAS.
7. Install remaining parts in reverse order.
