Heating of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) , Power supply (P0161)
Test 1: Check component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]).
1. Check component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]).
Test 1.1: Check component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) using actual value.
Test 1.2: Test current consumption of heating of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]).
1.1. Check component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) using actual value.
Test prerequisite
- At coolant temperature 80° C, start engine and maintain engine speed of 2500 1/min for about 2 minutes.
Status of the relevant actual values:
- Temperature of coolant:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
- Exhaust temperature with TWC model:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
- G3/6 (Right O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) , Signal:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
- G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) , Signal:Warning! Communication with ECU required.
Specified value
- Compare the actual values with each other.
- Range must drop below or rise above range 450 to 500 mV 1 times within a minute.(Engine at idle)
- Exhaust temperature with TWC model: > 400° C
- O2 sensor heater, after TWC:ON
Question
- Are the actual values o.k.?
YES
The actual values are okay.End of test
NO
The actual values are not okay.Possible cause and remedy
- Test current consumption of heating of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]).
- Signal cable of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
- G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
1.2. Test current consumption of heating of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]).
Test prerequisite
- The actual value is not o.k.
Test sequence
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect coupling 5 at component N3/10 (ME-SFI [ME] control unit).
- Measure direct current with multimeter between ground and socket (N3/10) 5.4
- Switch on ignition.
Warning!Perform the measurement only for a short time so that component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT]) does not overheat.Specified value
- Amperage[0.4...2.0] A
Question
- Is the measurement value OK?
YES
The measurement value is OK.Further possible causes of fault
- Signal cable of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
- G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
End of test
NO
The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy
- Voltage supply of component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
- Lines to component G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
- G3/5 (Left O2 sensor, after TWC [KAT])
