GF91.16-P-4112TX Retractable Rear Head Restraints (RHR) Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The head restraint mechanism is attached behind the rear seat backrest.

Task
The head restraint mechanism is used to implement the driver request for an unobstructed view through the rear window. For reliable guidance and secure retention of the head restraints. This is provided by the folding device in the raised and lowered positions.

Design
The catches for holding the head restraints in the raised position and the lever assembly for lowering the rear head restraints are accommodated in the robust injection molded housing. The left rear head restraint motor and the right rear head restraint motor (M53/2) are screwed on from the outside and connected to the lever assembly by an axle.

Function
The left or right rear head restraint motor receives an electrical signal from the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and lifts the head restraint by 13 mm. The rear head restraint is released by the slotted lever of the folding device and tilted to the rear. The slotted lever and the linkage are greased in the factory and do not require any other maintenance.
