Component Identification:

The comfort and sport switch (N72s25) with two light emitting diodes (LEDs) is a part of the lower control panel control unit (N72), in the gearshift lever cover of the center console.

Task
The comfort and sport switch can be used to choose between a comfortable and 2 sporty damping programs (SportI or SportII).

In doing so the vehicle level is lowered for "SportI" by 10 mm and for "SportII" by 15 mm.

Function
The comfort and sport switch signals are analyzed by the lower control panel control unit. The lower control panel control unit transmits the data via the CAN interior to the central gateway control unit (N93). From there the data is forwarded via the CAN engine compartment to the AIRmatic with ADS control unit (N51), which specifies the corresponding damping characteristic and vehicle level.

Actuation of the LEDs in the comfort and sport switch is done in the reverse direction.

Each program in which the vehicle moves is displayed by means of LEDs in the comfort and sport switch (permanently) and the multifunction display (A1p13) following selection of the damping program for approx. 5 s as follows:
^ For the Comfort program all light emitting diodes (LEDs) are extinguished.
^ For the "SportI" program the left LED goes on.
^ For the "SportII" program both LEDs go on.
^ After selection of the "Comfort" damping program, "AIRMATIC DC Comfort" appears for approx. 5 s. in the multifunction display.
^ After selection of the "SportI" damping program, "AIRMATIC DC Sport 1 " appears for approx. 5 s. in the multifunction display.
^ After selection of the "SportII" damping program, "AIRMATIC DC Sport 2" appears for approx. 5 s. in the multifunction display.

When the ignition is switched off and as long as the engine is not running a lamp test runs and both LEDs are actuated. After starting the engine the current driver command is displayed.
