1 Prepare wiring harness as shown in figure.

Component Identification:

2 Route wiring harness in the vehicle as shown in the figure.

Component Identification:

3 Prepare voltage supply wiring harness (20) as shown in the figure.

Component Identification:

4 Open rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and uncover plug positions 20 and 27.
5 Insert relay from parts kit at plug position C.
6 Provide fuse system (5 and 14) with 7.5 A fuse.

7 Connect voltage supply wiring harness (20) with the white voltage supply connector (23) to CAN wiring harness (4).

Insulate the second white connector (24) and strap down (not required).

8 Connect black voltage supply connector (27) to plug position 27 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
9 Insert flat plug bushing (26) at plug position 20 of rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) into chamber 1.

Component Identification:

10 Route CAN wiring harness (4) along existing lines on the left from the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) to the side wall.

11 Connect ground (left taillamp in trunk) (W6/1).

12 Route branch-off line from CAN wiring harness (4) via the control unit plate along existing lines to the right and secure using tie straps.

13 Route CAN wiring harness (4) in the area of the right rear seat in the frame floor system and from there route to the right A-pillar.

14 Route branch-off line from the CAN wiring harness (4) to the hands-free system interface box (3) to the right knee bolster.

15 Unplug green (gn), 2-pin MQS plug (arrow) at the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) from plug position 11, open connector and remove lines (green casing is no longer required).

Briefly provide vehicle with power and switch on ignition. Check whether the radio volume can still be adjusted using the multifunction steering wheel. If the volume is no longer adjustable, then the correct CAN plug has been removed. If not, then plug positions 8 through 10 must be checked individually until the plug that controls the volume is found. This green MQS plug must then be opened.

16 Insert the removed brown line (br) into the supplied blue connector housing in chamber 2. Insert the brown/red line (br/rt) into chamber 1. Close the blue connector housing (10) and connect to the blue plug housing of the CAN wiring harness (4).

Component Identification:

17 Connect green connector (gn) from the CAN wiring harness at plug position 11 to rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
