GF82.60-P-2003TU Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (528) HIGH Class USA

All volume/sound settings are performed in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and are transmitted via the MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
The signal processing for the volume/sound settings is taken over by the audio component integrated in the audio gateway control unit (N93/1).

The audio amplifier is located in the audio gateway control unit (N93/1). If the vehicle is equipped with the audio gateway control unit and code (810) sound system, additional space sound settings and a further final amplification of the audio signals are possible through the digital sound processor (DSP2) with its enhanced sound processing and amplifier stage.

Volume setting
The volume adjustment is controlled in each case for the audio source adjusted at the rotary controller of the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). It can be adjusted separately in all audio/service areas (telephone, audio).
With the RESET function predefined adjustments can be selected for all sound parameters including volume and reset to the plant adjustment.
The difference between the volume of the audio signal and the voice output for navigation, code (813) voice control system (VCS) and traffic announcements can be set in the "Audio" menu This means that voice output remains easily audible even in the case of loud audio output.
The volume of the voice output can also be changed during a voice output.

Tone adjustment
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) makes possible manual tone settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) for each audio source.
Via the main function button for sound adjustment in the left control panel the "Sound" menu is reached, in which the desired setting can be performed. This can be adjusted separately for each function such as radio, CD, traffic announcements.
The following sound adjustments are possible:
^ Speech
^ Ambiance
^ Driver

With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes.

The "Balance/Fading" adjustments can be achieved by pressing the main function key for sound distribution in the left operator panel and after this via the submenus.

A catastrophe message has priority over all other audio sources. Settings made during navigation voice output apply as the absolute level for the subsequent navigation voice output.

DRO/Dynamic range optimization
The volume of the background noise in the vehicle interior is adapted via speed-dependent volume control (GAL) and automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation, Dynamic Range Optimization. In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.

Mute (volume reduction)
If the user presses the function key "Mute", the audio source currently being listened to is muted and the CD drives change to a pause status.
