GF80.57-P-4117-01T Electric Steering Lock Control Unit, Purpose

Tasks
^ Reads in information with the EIS control unit (N73) (via a bidirectional, serial data bus)
^ Transmits acknowledgment and error messages to the EIS control unit (N73).
^ Controls catch bolt.

The electronic steering lock control unit (N26/5) processes requests from the EIS control unit (N73). The electronic circuitry actuates indirectly the locking bolt of the electric steering lock via an electric motor. The data signals from the EIS control unit (N73) are processed by a micro controller to illustrate the functions (lock, unlock, release according to drive authorization stage 3 (DAS 3)). Thereby acknowledgment and error messages are transmitted to the EIS control unit (N73)

Function conditions
^ C. 15C.
^ Authentication of transmitter key (A8/1) by EIS control unit (N73).

Operating safety
Locking while driving is prevented, because the power supply to the electric steering lock is switched off after the unlocking operation. This prevents the vehicle from being locked up while driving.

Unlocking/Locking
^ The electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) receives a wake- up signal from the EIS control unit (N73) or a keyless go request (with code (889) keyless go) and changes from the STOP mode to the RUN mode.
^ The electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) receives an authentication command (function code, authentication message with key identification and Hash value).
^ The electronic steering lock control unit (N26/5) calculates the hash value and compares it. If the Hash value is correct, it is stored and the steering lock is locked or unlocked. If the Hash value is incorrect, an error message is sent to the EIS control unit (N73).
^ The electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) changes from the RUN mode to the STOP mode.
