Messages relevant to the function in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) indicate the system status to the driver.

Messages relevant to the function:
^ System fault(s)
^ System messages

System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.

System messages describe a regular operating condition. In the event of complaint there is no reason to exchange system components.

System error message

The following system errors are displayed:
^ problems in the CAN data bus
^ failure of a system component, e.g. TPM [RDK] control unit defective
^ at least one wheel fitted without a TPM wheel sensor
^ The instrument cluster does not receive any CAN messages from the TPM [RDK] control unit (e.g. cable open-circuit or interrupted connector with circuit 15 "ON")

An assigned fault code is stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit.

System message (request for system activation)

This system message is displayed if:
^ the TPM [RDK] control unit has been exchanged
^ A red message relevant to operation has been displayed in previous driving modes

A system message is displayed for approx 30 seconds each time the vehicle is restarted as soon as the monitoring function is set to "Not active" in the TPM [RDK] control unit.

System message (information message)
This information message is displayed once the request to activate the system has been canceled. The TPM system is reactivated by pressing the instrument illumination rheostat and reset button (A1r1).

System message (information message)
This system message appears once the system is activated. This is necessary for changes in tire inflation pressure, a tire change or wheel change.

Activation is possible with circuit 15 "ON" or when the engine is running.

System message (information message)
The system message is displayed for a temporary fault in the TPM system. No repairs are necessary.

This system message is activated for the following criteria:
^ a new TPM wheel sensor has been mounted and is currently being taught in
^ obstruction of data transfer by an external interference transmitter
^ temperature of one TPM wheel sensor above 120 degrees C
^ transporting an additional TPM wheel sensor in the vehicle (e.g. winter wheels in the luggage compartment)

System message (information message)
After activation, pressure values are only displayed if the TPM system has detected a clear assignment. An information message is displayed instead of pressure values until the teach-in process has finished (total driving time approx. 10 minutes).

This information message cannot be canceled with the reset button. Pressing the reset button starts the activation again.

System message (information message)
The current pressure values are only displayed with circuit 15 "ON" or when the engine is running.

System message (information message)
The TPM system is switched off by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS.

System message (information message)
The TPM system is in diagnosis mode.

A complete and correct tire pressure monitoring is not ensured.
