The electrodes in the ATA inclination sensor (B33) are immersed partially in an electrolyte (electrically conductive fluid). The ATA inclination sensor (B33) recognizes inclination changes of the vehicle due to changes of the resistance between the electrodes. When the vehicle is parked, the value for the vehicle position is stored.

If the vehicle is then moved by a certain inclination in the longitudinal or lateral direction over a certain response time with the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) activated, the ATA inclination sensor (B33) sends a signal to the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) which then triggers the alarm
