GF82.85-P-2007QJ Telephone Mode, Function
- with CODE (255) Audio 30
- with CODE (498) Japanese version
- with CODE (854) MB portable cellular telephone

Component Identification:

The telephone system can be operated as follows:
^ directly at the radio (A2)
^ with the portable CTEL (A34/6)
^ via the multifunction steering wheel in combination with the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1)
^ via voice control system

Function
Following the request by the portable CTEL (A34/6) the telephone radio signals are forwarded to the telephone antenna (A2/22). There they are transmitted and received.
The signals are amplified and transmitted via the E-net compensator (A28/3).
A request by the radio (A2) operating unit to the portable CTEL (A34/6) is conducted via the D2B and the E-call control module (A35/8).

The task of the E-net compensator (A28/3) is to adjust, by means of amplification, the losses which occur due to the higher transmission frequencies of the E-net.

All control and wanted signals (e.g. audio signals from activated handsfree system) are transferred via the digital data bus (D2B).

The portable CTEL (A34/6) requires an interface to communicate with the D2B users. This is integrated into the E-call control module (A35/8).

The battery of the portable CTEL (A34/6) is charged via the E-call control module (A35/8). The battery is charged automatically as soon as the control module is active, irrespective of whether the portable CTEL (A34/6) is switched on or off.

The radio (A2) has the following telephone functions:
^ automatic blocking of the phone card after entering the Personal Identifier Number (PIN) incorrectly three times.
^ direct phone number dialing using the numeric keypad
^ display of called person's name (where the name is stored among the attendant numbers)
^ quick-dial of the first ten storage spaces with only one button or selection of all further storage spaces by input of 3-digit storage space number.
^ Dialing from memory lists, sorted according to:
-> memory location numbers
-> names (alphabetic)
-> list of 10 last dialed numbers
-> stored phone numbers for an incoming call (where number is also transferred)
-> stored names (where name stored under attendant numbers)

VCS Linguatronic (voice control system)
The voice control system control module (A35/11) is connected to the radio (A2) and the E-call control module (A35/8) via the digital data bus (D2B). The voice control system is used for telephone operation as well as for some audio operating functions (e.g. station search function, track change function for CDs). The audio source is automatically muted during a telephone call. The phone call can be listened to at increased volume via the vehicle speakers.

Handsfree mode
During a phone call it must be possible for the user to hold the conversation via the handsfree system.
To this end the handsfree system microphone (B25) is located in the base of the inside rearview mirror unit (A67). From there the microphone signals are forwarded directly to the E-call control module (A35/8) and the voice control system control module (A35/11). In the voice control system control module (A35/11) the signals are processed again and issued via the vehicle's sound system speakers.
