- with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system
- except CODE (491) U.S. version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

Continuous location finding means that the current position of the vehicle is calculated. It is active when the ignition is switched on and is accomplished by the navigation processor integrated into the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). During the switch-on phase (software is loaded), only the basic position finding is available. After switching the ignition off, all important positioning parameters are stored for the duration of the run-on time (approx. 30 min).

On model 203 as of 1.7.02 the position map is displayed again following the last time navigation is executed (destination reached). After 1 min run-on time, the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) switches itself off completely.

Continuous position finding uses 3 methods, which mutually complement each other and thus ensure very accurate and reliable position finding:
^ Basic position finding (dead reckoning)
^ Map-supported map matching
^ GPS position finding

Manual entry of the vehicle location
It is possible to enter the location manually on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3).
