GF82.60-P-2003QK Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- except CODE (535) Audio 20 CD radio, USA

All volume and sound settings are carried out at the control panel of the radio (A2). It is necessary to distinguish between audio sources and service sources:
Audio sources are
^ CD drive
^ Radio tuner

Service sources include:
^ Announcement of traffic information radio channel
^ Telephone
^ Voice control system (VCS)

Volume setting
The volume setting is regulated at the combination push and rotary button of the radio (A2) for each of the selected audio sources. In addition, the volume can be adjusted separately in all the audio and service areas (e.g. telephone, traffic information radio channel). The volume of the traffic information can be increased or decreased using the "Volume" button.
Using the "Reset" function, predefined settings for all sound parameters, including volume, can be selected and reset to the manufacturer default settings.

Speed-dependent volume control (SDV) and Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO)
The volume is adapted in accordance with the background noise in the vehicle interior via the SDV and the automatic vehicle interior noise adaptation DRO.

In the process the vehicle speed signal and signal input to the sound amplifier microphone (B25/6) are used as a relationship indicator.

Muting function
If the user presses the "Mute" function key, the audio source currently being listened to is muted and the CD player is switched to the pause mode. The muting function status can also be triggered automatically. If the vehicle is equipped with code (388) telephone "Handy", UPCI system and if the portable CTEL (A34/6) is placed in the UPCI [UHI] portable CTEL holder (Universal Handy Interface) (A34/15), the radio (A2) switches to telephone mode for an incoming call and the currently selected audio source is muted.

Tone setting
The radio (A2) has manual sound settings (bass, treble, balance, fader) available for each audio source. The "AUDIO" function status can be called up from every other functions state, except "AUTO-ON".

The bass is shown in the display as the first sound setting called up. By pressing the AUDIO function key repeatedly, the other tone controls for treble, balance (left/right), fader (front/rear), increased volume and traffic announcements can be called up. The messages of the AUDIO function status are output in the display field. The tone control only relates to the active system function status. With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes. The settings "balance" and "fading" are called up by pressing the main function key for tone distribution in the left control field. Processing of the signals for the required volume and tone adjustments is performed by the radio (A2).
