GF82.60-P-2003QMJ Volume/Tone Adjustments, Function
- with CODE (498) Japan version

In connection with the COMAND, operating, display and control unit (A40/3) a distinction must be made between audio sources and service sources: Audio sources are
^ Radio tuner
^ CD drive

Service sources include:
^ Traffic announcements
^ Telephone system
^ Voice output with navigation system

Volume setting
Changing the volume of an audio source has an identical effect on all other audio sources. The volume for traffic announcements and telephone operation is also changed together.

The volume of the voice output for navigation can be changed during the actual voice output (in the Settings menu). In the process, an adjustable difference between the volume of the audio signal and volume of the voice output is automatically maintained. This means that voice output remains audible even in the case of loud audio output.
Emergency messages have priority over all other audio sources. Settings made during a navigation voice output apply as the default level for the subsequent navigation voice outputs.

Tone setting
Manual sound settings (treble, bass) can be made for each audio source on the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The tone setting selected for the radio mode simultaneously applies to the traffic radio announcement.

In addition, the following 3 preset sound settings can be called up using the audio gateway control unit (N93/1):
^ Pop
^ Classical
^ Language

In combination with the sound amplifier (A2/13) and for vehicles with code (810) Sound system (models 209.34/36/44/46), the following sound optimizations are possible:
^ Standard
^ Ambient low
^ Ambient medium
^ Ambient high
^ Language
^ Driver optimized

With a change in sound emphasis (balance, fader) the ratio of the volume of the individual speakers changes.
