GF82.60-P-2003RA Volume/Tone Settings Function

GF82.60-P-2003RA Volume/Tone Settings Function
- with CODE (352) COMAND operating and display system
- except CODE (491) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version

The sound is transferred in the form of digital signals to the COMAND module via the D2B bus.
A distinction must be made between COMAND audio and service sources:
Audio sources are:
^ Radio
^ CD player

Service sources include:
^ Traffic radio announcements
^ Telephone and voice control system (optional)
^ Voice output with navigation system

Volume setting
A change in the volume of an audio source also affects all other audio sources in the same manner. The volume is also jointly regulated within the service sources in the same manner. The volume of voice output for navigation can be changed during voice output.
In this case an adjustable difference (in the "Settings" menu) is automatically maintained between the volume of the audio signal and the voice output.
This means that voice output remains easily audible even in the case of loud audio output.
A catastrophe announcement has priority over all other audio sources. Settings made during navigation voice output apply as the absolute level for the subsequent navigation voice output.

When the "NAV button" is pressed, the last navigation voice output is repeated.

Tone settings
The COMAND module allows manual tone settings (base/treble) for each audio source. The tone setting selected for the radio simultaneously applies to the traffic information radio channel message.
Settings which are selected for voice output during navigation also influence the language control system.
In addition, three preset tone settings can be called without Bose system:
^ pop
^ classical
^ Language
^ Balance

The following sound optimizations are possible with the Bose amplifier:
^ Standard
^ Ambient low
^ Ambient medium
^ Ambient high
^ Language
^ Driver optimized
^ Balance

When the tonal focal point is changed (balance, fader), the relationship between the volume of the other loudspeakers also changes.
The signal processing required for the volume and tone settings is undertaken by the audio components integrated in the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3).
When the vehicle is also equipped with sound system (code 810), the sound amplifier (A2/13) is responsible for final application of the audio signals.
