AR68.10-P-1000R Remove/Install Instrument Panel










1 Open Vario roof completely

NOTE: See owner's manual.

2 Position steering column adjustment of steering wheel completely downward and to rear
3 Move driver's and passenger seat down
4 Move selector lever to position "N"
5.1 Switch off ignition, remove key from EIS electronic starter switch
5.2 Switch off engine, remove Keyless go card from vehicle

NOTE: With CODE (889) Keyless Go Store Keyless Go card outside of transmission range

6 Remove covers from left and right sides and center of center console
7 Open cover on stowage box between seats
8 Unscrew bolts (2)

NOTE: Screws are located behind assembly openings in stowage box

9 Unscrew screws (3)
10 Unscrew screws (4) from left and right sides of center console
11 Unclip covers above screws (5) and remove
12 Unscrew bolts (5)
13.1 Remove radio
13.2 Remove COMAND operating and display unit

NOTE: Only with code (352a) COMAND operating and display system

14 Pull installation shaft for radio or COMAND operating and display unit out of instrument panel (1)
15 Remove glove compartment
16 Unscrew screw (6) from instrument panel (1) at right bottom
17 Remove bottom section of dashboard on driver's side
18 Unscrew screws (7) from instrument cluster recess
19 Remove paneling from left and right A-pillars
20 Disconnect electrical connector (8) and vacuum line (9)
21 Disconnect electrical connectors (10 to 12) on center air nozzle
22 Remove loudspeaker from instrument panel
23 Remove cover for loudspeakers
24 Remove loudspeaker from instrument panel
25 Remove rubber grommets (13) from instrument panel
26 Remove instrument panel toward rear with second mechanic

CAUTION: Observe electrical contacts on windshield in area of left and right A-pillars.

27 Install in the reverse order
