GF40.15-P-0001-04RU Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to the Function

GF40.15-P-0001-04RU Tire pressure monitor (TPM), messages relevant to the function
- with CODE (470) Tire pressure monitor (base)
- with CODE (494) USA version
- except CODE (498) Japan version
- as of 1.7.05 up to model year 08

Messages related to the function of the tire pressure monitor (TPM) in the left multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) show the driver the system status.

Messages relevant to the function:
^ System error(s)
^ System messages

System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.

System messages describe a regular operating condition. If an event code is displayed there is no reason to replace system components.

The following system faults can exist:
^ Faults in the CAN data bus
^ Failure of a system component, e.g. TPM [RDK] control unit defective
^ At least one wheel fitted without a TPM wheel sensor
^ The instrument cluster does not receive any CAN messages from TPM [RDK] control unit (e.g. cable discontinuity or disconnected connector with ignition "ON" (circuit 15)

A corresponding fault code is stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit.

This system message is displayed if:
^ The TPM [RDK] control unit has been exchanged
^ A red message, relevant to operation, was displayed during previous driving cycles

This system message is displayed for approx. 30 seconds each time the vehicle is restarted, when in the TPM [RDK] control unit the monitoring function has been set to "Not active".

This system message appears after activation of the TPM system. This is necessary if tire inflation pressure is changed or if wheels are changed.

Activation is possible with ignition "ON" (circuit 15) or if engine is running.

The system message is displayed for a temporary fault in the TPM system.

This system message is activated for the following criteria:
^ The new TPM wheel sensor has been fitted and is currently being taught in
^ Obstruction to data transfer by an external interference transmitter
^ Temperature of a TPM wheel sensor above 120 degrees C
^ An additional TPM wheel sensor is being carried in the vehicle (e.g. winter wheels in luggage compartment)

No repairs are necessary.

The TPM system is switched off by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS.

The TPM system is in diagnosis mode.

Full and correct tire pressure monitoring is not guaranteed.
