GF27.19-P-1115AHI Turbine Wheel RPM Sensor, Component Description

GF27.19-P-1115AHI Turbine wheel rpm sensor, component description
- TRANSMISSION 722.930

Component Identification:

Location
The turbine speed sensor (VGS) is integrated in the electric controller unit (VGS).

Task
The turbine speed sensor (VGS) acquires the rpm of the planet carrier of the Ravigneaux gear set via the internal plate carrier of the multidisk clutch K1 This is processed by the fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS) (Y3/8n4) as an input signal together with the information from the internal speed sensor (VGS) and the output speed sensor (VGS). This contributes to shortening the reaction time during shift operations.

Design
The turbine speed sensor (VGS) is firmly fixed to the electric controller unit (VGS) and cannot be replaced individually.

Function
A permanently magnetized pole wheel (ring magnet) and rpm sensor, which consists of magnetoresistive elements, are used to detect the turbine speed. A magnetoresistive element changes its resistance under the influence of a magnetic field. The ring magnet is bonded to an aluminum ring plate and connected to a ring gear of the Ravigneaux gear set. Magnetic field changes occur due to the rotary motion of the ring gear and as a result a resistance change occurs in the magnetoresistive elements An evaluation electronic system passes on this information to the fully integrated transmission control unit (VGS). By using this speed recording system the measurement can take place over a greater distance than with a Hall sensor.
