GF82.30-P-3004R Windshield Wiper, Function
Component Identification:
Operating prerequisite
^ Circuit 15R ON
Automatic control
Automatic wiper control (rain sensor mode) is activated by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "I".
The wiper motor (M6/1) is actuated depending on
^ The degree of wetness of the windshield
^ The ambient light conditions
^ The vehicle speed
^ The outside temperature
The rain sensor (B38) or rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the overhead control panel control unit (N70) evaluate the signals that are relayed to the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). The driver side SAM control unit (N10/10) then directly actuates the wiper motor (M6/1).
Possible wiper levels
^ Intermittent wipe with variable intervals.
^ Continuous wiping at the required wiping speed.
Emergency running
If communication between the rain sensor (B38) or the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the overhead control panel control unit (N70) fails, intermittent operation with fixed intervals (approx. 5 sec.) is activated.
With automatic speed reduction the interval is approx. 7.5 sec.
Wiping at specified speed
Continuous wiping is activated on by turning the combination switch (S4) to position "II" or "III". The driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) is notified of requests from the combination switch (S4) via the steering column module N80).
The driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) actuates the wiper motor (M6/1) in accordance with the requests.
^ For continuous wiping at slow speed (stage 1, approx. 40 cycles per min.), turn combination switch (S4) to position "II".
^ For continuous wiping at slow speed (stage 1, approx. 40 cycles per min.), turn combination switch (S4) to position "II".
^ For touch wiping, briefly push combination switch (S4) to detent point.
By briefly pressing the combination switch (S4), a single wipe is performed, when pressing for longer the wiping continues in accordance with the duration that the switch is actuated. Touch wiping takes place independently of the wiper level that has been selected.
