GF07.16-P-2010P CDI Post-Injection Function

GF07.16-P-2010P CDI Post-injection Function
ENGINE 642 in MODEL 203.0, 164.1 /8, 221.1 /0, 251.0, 203.2, 251.1 up to model year 2008
/YoM 07
ENGINE 642.9 in MODEL 463.3 up to 31.5.12
ENGINE 642 in MODEL 461.3
ENGINE 642 in MODEL 211.6, 219.3, 209.4 /3, 211.2 /0

Post-injection follows main injection.
Secondary injection serves to increase the exhaust gas temperature and to support the conversion process of exhaust gas components in the oxidation catalytic converter.
For model 211.022 with OM 642.920 and code (494) USA version 1st post injection serves to increase the temperature for regeneration of the NOx catalytic converter.
On vehicles with code (474) Particulate filter, for the purpose of regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (DPF), injection is repeated. This occurs if an appropriate load condition of the DPF was established with the aid of the pressure differential sensor (DPF) (B28/8) (except model 463) and the pressure differential sensor (TWC) (B28/8) (model 463). The 2nd post injection increases the exhaust temperature and the regeneration process is triggered.

The particulate matter (particles) PM in the exhaust gas is subsequently burned.
The quantity of the post-injection is calculated by the CDI control unit (N3/9) while taking account of information from the following sensors:
^ Temperature sensor upstream of turbocharger (B19/11), for temperature control of the regeneration of the NOx catalytic converter for model 211.022 with OM 642.920 and code (494) USA version
^ Rail pressure sensor (B4/6), for the rail pressure
^ Boost pressure sensor (B5/1), for the boost pressure
^ Coolant temperature sensor (B11/4), for the coolant temperature
^ Charge air temperature (B17/8), for the charge air temperature
^ Pressure sensor downstream of air filter (B28/5), for the absolute pressure (vacuum) in the intake tract (except model 463)
^ Pressure sensor downstream of air filter, right cylinder bank (B28/5), for the absolute pressure (vacuum) in the intake tract (only model 463)
^ Differential pressure sensor for the DPF load condition

Post-injection is not initiated by the CDI control unit if one of the following statuses is present:
^ The preinjection time is exceeded
^ The detected engine speed is too high
^ The calculated quantity of post-injection is too small
^ The quantity of main injection is too low
^ The rail pressure is too low
^ The engine is switched off

Information on coolant temperature, charge air temperature and atmospheric pressure is used to correct the post- injection quantity.
