Vehicle Does Not Lower at Front Axle and "Airmatic Visit Workshop" is Displayed in the Instrument Cluster
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles where the vehicle's Airmatic suspension does not lower at the front axle and "Airmatic Visit Workshop" is displayed within the instrument cluster, perform the following to resolve.
1. Allow the vehicle to remain parked and idle with the hood closed for approximately 30 minutes in order to achieve high under hood temperatures.
2. Using STAR Diagnosis, raise and lower the vehicle's level at each of the front Airmatic struts. The following path within STAR Diagnosis should be used to control the vehicle level: Chassis --> Suspension --> Airmatic --> Actuations --> Actuation of Individual Struts --> Left / Right Front Suspension Strut. Use the F3 and F4 keys to raise and lower the strut.
3. The strut(s) which does not lower is at fault.
4. Replace the defective Airmatic strut. Refer to WIS document AR32.25-P-1017sx.
Note:
The following fault code may be stored: 5286 - Recovery Times During Bleeding of Air Suspension Strut is Too Long. At under hood temperatures greater than approximately 70°C (160°F) at the suspension strut tower area, the residual pressure holding valve may close earlier than requested when the pressure drops. As a result, air no longer releases from the suspension strut and the target vehicle level is not reached and the corresponding fault code is stored.
