The rear SAM control unit is located below the right rear box.

The rear SAM control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors, pickups and signals
The input factors are read in with the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following components are read in via a direct line:
- Fuel level sensor (B4)
- Right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4)
- Left door contact switch (S17/3)
- Right door contact switch (S17/4)
- ATA [EDW] switch, center console stowage compartment (S62/32)
- ATA [EDW] switch, left rear box (S62/33)
- ATA [EDW] switch, right rear box (S62/34)
- Pawl rotary tumbler switch (S88/4)

Interior CAN
The rear SAM control unit reads in function-relevant information via the interior CAN.

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Control of systems
The rear SAM control unit controls the following systems:
- Rear exterior lights
- Trunk illumination
- Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW])

Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following line:

- Trunk lamp (E18/1)

- Charge air cooler circulation pump relay (K40/5kR) (only AMG vehicles)
