Service

Removal

1. Raise and support the vehicle.


2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.


3. Remove the brake drum (1126).


4. Remove the hub grease cap (1131).


5. Remove and discard the cotter pin.


6. Remove the rear wheel bearing nut and washer.


7. Remove the rear hub and rear wheel bearing assembly.







8. Remove the rear wheel bearing snap ring from the rear hub (1109).


CAUTION: When removing a rear wheel bearing from the rear hub, always replace it with a new rear wheel bearing.












9. Use a press and Bearing Cup Replacer T77 F-1202-A to press the rear wheel bearing (1225) from the rear hub.


Installation

1. Support the rear hub with Dust Shield Replacer T87C-1 175-B and press the rear wheel bearing into the rear hub with Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer T8OT-4000-E.







2. Install the rear wheel bearing snap ring in the rear hub.







3. Install the rear hub on the rear wheel spindle (4A013).


4. Install the rear wheel bearing nut and washer. Tighten the rear wheel bearing nut to 196-284 N-m (145-210 lb-ft).

5. Install a new cotter pin.

6. Install the hub grease cap.

7. Install the brake drum.

8. Install the wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the wheel hub bolt nut (1012) to 98-118 N-rn (72-87 lb-ft).

9. Lower the vehicle.
