The spark plugs in the 1.6L and 1.9L engines use a half-length thread (AWSF) on 1986 and prior models. The 1.9L engine in 1987 models use a full-length thread (AGSF) spark plug, Figure 14.

For service, the half-length thread (AWSF) spark plug cannot be used in the 1987 1.9L engine, Figure 14. The full-length thread (AGSF) spark plug may be used in all prior model year engines except the 1981 1.6L which must only be serviced with the half-length thread (AWSF) spark plug.
