When installed, piston and rod assembly should have the notch or arrow in piston head toward front of engine with connecting rod numbers positioned as shown in Figs. 29, 30 and 31. Check side clearance between connecting rods at each crankshaft journal. Clearance should be .0035-.0105 for 4-140 and 6-200 engines, .0047-.0114 for V6-232 engine, and .010-.020 for V8-302 engine.
