Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

WARNING: Because of the combustion characteristics of gasoline, always use extreme care when removing and installing any fuel system component.





REMOVAL
- Perform Fuel Pressure Relief procedure.
- Loosen worm gear clamp on fuel filter bracket.
- Remove push connect fittings at both ends of the fuel filter as outlined under Fuel Line Coupler.

NOTE: The "Flow" arrow direction should be positioned forward and downward to ensure proper flow of fuel through replacement filter.

- Remove filter from bracket by loosening filter retaining clamp enough to allow filter to pass through.

INSTALLATION
- Install filter in bracket, ensuring proper direction of flow as noted earlier. Locate the fuel filter against tab at lower end of bracket.
- Install push connect fittings at both ends of filter as outlined under Fuel Line Coupler.
- Tighten clamp to 1.7-2.8 Nm (15-25 in lbs).
- Start engine and inspect for leaks.
